Our work with communities
- Southdale is an Associate Member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and our role is to contribute to the activities and future direction of the scheme by making improvements to the image of the construction industry
- Our Site Management teams have won eight Considerate Constructors awards since joining the scheme
- Last year we provided apprenticeship opportunities for 47 people
- Last year we provided 2,655 hours of training for our employees which equates to 3 days per employee
- We are committed to recruiting local people who live in the areas where we work. Currently, more than 55% of our staff live under 10 miles from work
- We are currently working with local schools, colleges and universities to provide numerous work experience placements on each of our sites. This initiative gives people valuable vocational training and experience prior to starting their career in construction
Our commitment to health & safety
- In the latest NHBC quarterly results, Southdale achieved an average inspection score of 1.43. (A low score means the inspection has uncovered minimal risks to health and safety).Our score is 2 points below the all builder national average of 3.2 which means we are consistently exceeding the industry's health and safety scores.
- Recipient of OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System
- All of our professional and site staff hold a CSCS card
- We continually receive annual ROSPA Awards for Health & Safety Management and Performance
Our environmental credentials
- Achieved ISO14001 Environmental accreditation
- We are building to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 5
- We were the first to develop a Code 3 scheme featured as a Zero Carbon HUB
- Our construction projects meet Building for Life Standards
- We work with WRAP to reduce waste and trial new technology
- We pilot new green and environmental products with the aim of reducing our environmental impact.
