At Southdale we're always looking to the future
We are committed to reducing fuel poverty for residents who live in the properties that we build. Using our in house expertise, we are able to enhance energy efficiency within our properties using life cycle costing within our construction programmes. This helps to ensure better use of capital expenditure and in turn provides clients with greater return on investment.
Sustainable Living
Southdale are focused on driving sustainability within the affordable housing sector and here's how we do it:
-
We have experienced Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH) and SAP/BREEAM assessors who ensure that sustainable requirements for each development are assessed at the start of the project. This results in a clearly defined set of design options which are presented to the client. This proposal includes initial cost, whole life cost, costs in use, long term sustainability and feedback from residents.
-
Our detailed property evaluations help us identify the most innovative and cost efficient means of improving the performance of the property, whilst taking into consideration client requirements and minimising disruption to residents.
-
Southdale are skilled and fully conversant with a range of modern methods of construction such as a fabric first approach to achieve CfSH Level 3 without the use of renewables. This reduces the long term maintenance costs to our clients and presents the opportunity for future enhancement.
-
We undertake post construction feedback to support our learning process. This involves monitoring the properties we build after they are occupied to evaluate the effect of our green interventions on running costs, occupant and client satisfaction, health, safety and comfort.
-
We also monitor sustainability throughout our supply chain and are committed to the training and development of our partners to ensure they are able to deliver the high standards that we expect in accordance with the principles of 'One Planet Living'.
- We are currently developing a number of schemes which will meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5.
